CRB Disclosures

National Care Association acts as an umbrella body for 90% of its members. We work to ease the administrative burden for members and to act as a quick information service with regards to the frequent changes to the CRB process.

UPDATED NEWS FROM CRB:

12 October. Are you ready?

Important things to remember for 12 October 2009:

For further information about changes on 12 October 2009, visit the CRB website www.crb.org.uk/VBS. For queries about the Vetting and Barring Scheme and the role of the ISA, call the VBS contact centre on 0300 123 1111

The Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA)

The Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) has been created to help prevent unsuitable people from working with children and vulnerable adults.

We will do this by working in partnership with the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB), which will gather relevant information on every person who wants to work or volunteer with vulnerable people.

You can register for updates from the Independent Safeguarding Authority by click onto this link http://www.isa-gov.org.uk/

Referrals to ISA

The Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) has been created to help prevent unsuitable people from working with children and vulnerable adults. Since 31 March 2008, the ISA has been providing advice on barring decisions for List 99, the Protection of Children Act (PoCA) list and the Protection of Vulnerable Adults (PoVA) list to the Secretaries of State for Children Schools and Families (DCSF) and Health (DH).

From October 12th 2009, a new duty to share information has been introduced under the Vetting and Barring Scheme. From that date employers, social services and professional regulators will have to notify the ISA of relevant information so that individuals who pose a threat to vulnerable groups can be identified and barred from working with these groups.
